Why this wine

Silex is the flint soil that gives Sancerre its smoky edge, and this cuvée is drawn only from the Reverdy family's old vines on the clay-flint hillsides above Verdigny. Wild-yeast fermentation and eight months on fine lees give it more depth and ageing potential than a straight village bottling, without a stave of oak. The step up from the estate's entry wine is worth taking.
