How it tastes
Vibrant citrus with delicate floral notes, and the depth, texture and gentle spritz that come from months on the lees. Underneath it all is the salty minerality and touch of spice that mark out a proper Muscadet. — 100% Melon de Bourgogne
The producer
Chéreau-Carré is one of the leading family estates of Muscadet, with 135 hectares across some of the region's best sites; the estate is farmed sustainably and holds HVE certification. Château de Chasseloir's vines are old — more than half planted over 50 years ago, one parcel over a century — on old volcanic soil that gives the wine its minerality and keeps yields low and the berries concentrated. Bernard and Louise Chéreau ferment with selected yeasts at 15–18°C in concrete vats set over three levels, so the wine moves by gravity rather than pump, then keep it on its fine lees for at least eight months, bottle straight off the lees to hold a light spritz, and age it 18 months in bottle before release.
